Literary Death Match, the hilarious face-off that pits four notable authors against each other, is one of our favorite events in L.A. So we’re incredibly excited to share that our own Karen Rizzo (Famous Baby) will be performing on August 26th at the Largo. The way it works is: four authors read their work for seven minutes, and then are judged on literary merit, performance, and intangibles. The two favorites will duke it out in the finale, which consists of, as host Adrian Todd Zuniga says, “a vaguely literary game — think Pin the Mustache on Hemingway.”

This episode promises to be particularly entertaining – the judges include Franklin Leonard (founder of The Black List), actress Eliza Coupe (Happy Endings, Scrubs), and Thomas Middleditch, the writer and star of HBO’s Silicon Valley. Karen will compete against Jimmy Dore (Your Country is Just Not That Into You), Beau Sia (The Undisputed Greatest Writer of All Time), and Lara Marie Schoenhals (White Girl Problems).

LDM is a great way to experience the work of four different authors in a fun environment that is pretty much the antithesis of a stuffy reading. We hope you’ll be there to cheer Karen on as she battles to the death.
