Today is the day—Adam Walker Phillips‘ latest in the Chuck Restic mystery series, THE BIG CON, is finally here, and we can’t wait to officially launch it at Vroman’s Bookstore on Wednesday, 8/15 at 7:00 pm!
Author Adam Walker Phillips will be joined by fellow Prospect Park Books author Phoef Sutton (From Away, the Crush mysteries) to discuss and sign The Big Con, and speak about the art of mystery writing and more. And, as always, there will be refreshments!
The Big Con, the latest addition to the Chuck Restic mystery series, has already received glowing praise. A recent article in the Los Feliz Ledger describes The Big Con as a brilliant “corporate satire, plus a classic L.A. detective story.” If you’re unfamiliar with it, this mystery series follows Chuck Restic, a burnt out human resources guy turned part-time detective, as he is thrown into murder case that becomes a little too personal. You can read more about the book by clicking HERE, but in the meantime, here’s what you can expect from The Big Con—available everywhere today!
Chuck Restic, HR manager and part-time private investigator, has a problem: the consultant guru Julie St. Jean is the bane of his existence. Over his twenty-year HR career, he’s been forced to partner with her on inane employee engagement programs whose only value has been to Julie’s sizable bank account. When Julie is suddenly wanted for the murder of an associate, Chuck sees his chance to rid himself of her forever, until the corporate tables are turned on him and he must find the elusive figure or risk losing his job. The search uncovers a dark past of murder and stolen identity. And what begins as a search to save his corporate neck soon turns into one a lot more literal.
We love our Vroman’s launches, and are so grateful for their support over the years. In fact, Nancy Nimoy, the illustrator behind the Chuck Restic mystery covers (along with many other PPB projects, including the Riley Ellison series) is the current artist featured in Vroman’s Art on the Stair exhibit! We’ve always been big fans of Nancy’s work, and we hope you enjoy it if you join us at Vroman’s for The Big Con‘s launch, where you can see it for yourself. You can also find Nancy’s work on her website, her Instagram, and her Facebook page. We hope to see you there!
