We’re happy to announce that the winner of the Summer with Shakespeare Sweepstakes is Ann Rogers of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Although the winner was chosen at random by the software program running the contest, it couldn’t have happened to a better person—Ann is a big fan of Lian’s novels and a longtime Satellite Sisters listener, and she even organized a pub meet-up for fans after Lian’s recent appearance at Powell’s in Beaverton, Oregon.
Ann and a companion will be spending three nights at the Ashland Springs Hotel, dining at the award-winning Larks restaurant, and attending two plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival: A Midsummer Night’s Dreamand The Taming of the Shrew. She’ll also get a personally signed copy of Elizabeth the First Wife.
Prospect Park Books organized the contest to celebrate the publication of Lian Dolan’s new novel, Elizabeth the First Wifeh. In the book, protagonist Elizabeth Lancaster, an English professor at Pasadena City College, gets an offer from her movie star ex-husband that she just can’t refuse to take part in a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Elizabeth’s summer in Ashland changes her life forever, and the story inspired us to put together a weekend at the OSF to give two of Lian Dolan’s fans a chance to enjoy some of the Ashland magic themselves.
Our gratitude goes to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Ashland Springs Hotel, and Larks restaurant for their generosity in supporting the contest, and to the whole town of Ashland for being so wonderful.
